UJ Library Reserve Collection consists of Electronic Course Reserve (ECR) and Printed materials. Usually these are library materials with high expected usage.The materials to be placed on reserve can be recommended by:
· Lecturers
· Subject Librarians
· Lending/Circullation Staff or
· Requested by students.
The Reserved Collection /Short Loans Collection materials can be accessed through the UJLink (Library Catalogue) or directly through Course Reserve website. You can search the Course Reserve either per: Lecturer or Course name or number
ELECTRONIC COURSE RESERVE (ECR)
WHAT IS ECR?
Electronic Course Reserves (ECR) is a collection of articles, chapters in a book and class-notes prescribed by the lecturers for specific courses. These course materials are made available online through Course Reserve for students to access.
HOW COVENIENT IS ECR?

Course materials are available 24/7 from any place where there is internet access.

Materials can be sent to the library via email to the relevant subject librarians or the Library Circulation Desk staff

This makes it convenient for the lecturer and it also speeds up the process.

Students can either print or download documents.

Easy to manage and update.
HOW TO PLACE MATERIAL?

For materials that are not you own work you will need to clear copyright with the copyright officer (Thapelo Mashishi, thapelom@uj.ac.za, 011 559-2182)

Lecturers who want to submit materials for the ECR can download the DALRO Blanket License form, which needs to be used for all copyright permission requests. No materials will be placed without clearance from the Copyright officer.

Submit copyright cleared materials to your Campus Library ECR person.

Update your course material every semester.

Materials must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the date on which it will be needed.
PRINTED COURSE RESERVE
WHAT IS PRINTED COURSE RESERVE
Printed course reserves are prescribed and/or recommended material such as books, journal articles, chapters in a book or anyother class notes. These materials are available in the circulation desk to be borrowed for photocopying or studying only inside the library. They can be borrowed for 2 hour only.
HOW TO PLACE MATERIAL?

Recommended books can be placed via the relevant subject librarians or the Library Lending/Circulation Desk staff.

The standard form for print items is available at the lending desk in the library or you can download it electronically.

To place class notes, journal articles and chapter in a book you need to submit copyright cleared materials to your Campus Library ECR person.
